How to Play Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em is one of the most widely regarded forms of poker. With so many variants around it can be hard to remember the rules for each. Before getting into the rules the first thing a successful player needs to do is find a good casino in which to play.

The first round in Hold’em sees the dealer dealing two cards face down to each player. At this point a betting round will commence allowing players to decide whether they fold, check or actually remain in and place a bet. This section of the game is called the pre-flop. Once all the betting has been finished, the dealer will then deal three more cards, the flop. This time they will be placed face up in the centre of the table and are called community cards. This means that all players at the table can use these cards in conjunction with those in their hand to create the highest value hand possible.

At the end of the next round of bets, a fourth card is dealt face up, this is called the turn. The there is a final round of bets before the final card, known as the river is dealt. At this point players can use any or all the cards from the community cards along with the two held in their hand in order to create a winning hand if possible. The amount of cards in the hand can only be five, which is why a combination of the two is usually used. The best way option for a player is to use the two cards in their hand along with three from the community hand as other players will not know what the hole cards are. The game ends when the players reveal their hands and the best hand wins. This is dubbed the showdown.
